Job Description
At Amazon Robotics we design advanced robotic systems capable of intelligent perception learning and action alongside humans all on a large scale. Our goal is to develop robots that increase productivity and efficiency at the Amazon fulfillment centers while ensuring the safety of workers.
We are seeking an Applied Scientist to develop innovative and scalable solutions in motion planning and feedback controls for complex robotic systems. In this role you will take responsibility for developing robot physics models performing analysis and devising and implementing algorithms for the control and estimation of robotic systems. You will collaborate with a worldclass team of experts in perception machine learning motion planning and feedback controls to innovate and develop solutions for complex realworld problems.
As part of your work you will investigate applicable academic and industry research to develop implement and test solutions that support product features. You will also design and validate production designs. To succeed in this role you should demonstrate a strong working knowledge of physical systems a desire to learn from new challenges and the problemsolving and communication skills to work within a highly interactive and experienced team. Candidates must show a handson passion for their work and the ability to communicate their ideas and concepts both verbally and visually.
Key job responsibilities
Conduct research design implement and assess feedback control and motion planning algorithms ensuring integration across various disciplines.
Develop experiments and build prototypes to implement control algorithms planners and optimization techniques.
Collaborate closely with software engineering teams to ensure scalable realtime implementation of algorithms.
Partner with crossfunctional engineering teams to deploy algorithms from initial prototyping to productionlevel implementation.
Engage with stakeholders across hardware scientific and operational teams to iterate on system design and implementation.

PhD in engineering technology computer science machine learning robotics operations research statistics mathematics or equivalent quantitative field
5 years of industry or academic research experience
Experience programming in Java C Python or related language
Experience in building machine learning models for business application
5 years of industry or academic research experience in applied research and development in robotics with a focus on motion planning and feedback controls.
Proven ability to innovate and develop robust and scalable solutions to complex robotics problems.
Experience in trajectory optimization for multidegreeoffreedom (multiDOF) robotic systems
Experience in designing controllers using Model Predictive Control Optimal Control etc
Experience in patents or publications at toptier peerreviewed conferences or journals

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $150400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260000/year in our highest geographic market.
