Job Description
The EU Science and Technology (SnT) team owns scalable algorithms models and systems that improve customer experience in middlemile. We work backwards from Amazons customers aiming to make transportation faster cheaper safer more reliable and ecologically sustainable with the technological advances we offer. To that end we split our time between shortterm deliveries focused on business 70 and longterm research that prepare Amazon for the future 30. Our skills lie in the area of machine learning and optimization; and know how to code ecient algorithmic science solutions. Our current scope can be divided in four business domains: 1 Network Planning 2 Scheduling & Capacity Planning and Management; 3 Optimization and 4 Demand Forecasting as an enabler to all 13 domains. In this position we focus on Demand Forecast for Scheduling and Capacity Management which includes the subproblems of origindestination forecasting week over week endtoend network demand flow estimation hour per hour forecast refresh.
Key job responsibilities
In this role you will:
Work closely with a senior science advisor collaborate with other scientists and engineers and be part of Amazons vibrant and diverse global science community.
Publish your innovation in toptier academic venues and hone your presentation skills.
Be inspired by challenges and opportunities to invent cuttingedge techniques in your area(s) of expertise.
* PhD in a relevant field received within 2 years of starting the program
* Proven publication record in Machine learning and Operations research or other related technical fields
* Experience in item perception and manipulation
* Proficiency in technologies relevant to the subfield
Ability to independently deliver results in a fastpaced environment
Publications at toptier peerreviewed conferences and/or journals
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Expert knowledge in modeling and performance operationalization and scalability of scientific techniques and establishing decision strategies
