We are currently looking for a Partnerships Policy Lead (Industry) to join our National PartnershipsTeam within the Partnerships group.

This is a fulltime opportunity on a permanent basis. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade Canary Wharf London E14 4PU. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.

Government departments and agencies are working towards implementing a minimum 60 attendance in office sites.

We are currently implementing a flexible hybrid way of working with a minimum of 8 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role this can flex up to 12 days a month with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly.

Who are we

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency enhance and improve the health of millions of people every day through the effective regulation of medicines and medical devices underpinned by science and research.

The Partnerships Group will take responsibility for the development of the MHRAs national and international partnerships; for developing a new underpinning legal regime for medicines and medical devices; and for the MHRAs business development work. The Group will focus on areas which are of central importance to the Agencys future contributing to priority public health objectives; delivering the Governments Life Sciences Vision; and ensuring continued global leadership through the development of new international partnerships. These and the other transformational regulatory proposals which are being developed across the Agency will require legislation to be updated and potentially to be reformed into a new legal regime.

The National Partnerships team works to strengthen and maintain crossUK relationships relevant to areas of strategic priority for the MHRA. There will be real emphasis on delivering together and crossGroup working. Most team members will have at least one job objective which requires working across the span of the Groups responsibilities to enable team members to develop expertise on particular regulatory areas to be more efficient and flexible and to give significant personal development opportunity.

Whats the role

The aim of the role is to ensure that the MHRA has the right relationships with stakeholders promoting an agile and responsive relationship with the wider health ecosystem. The role will provide support to the wider agency enabling access to these stakeholders strengthening Agency links and exploring the potential for collaboration. The post holder will identify and develop important partnerships build and lead identified relationships and contribute to the strategic management of MHRAs partnerships to ensure effective efficient delivery of key objectives. Current focus areas for the team include innovation of medical products and information sharing between system partners.

Key responsibilities:

Establish a partnership function for Marketing Authorisation (MA) Applicants UK based major pharmaceutical biotech MedTech and health system partners through management of an information sharing initiative with health system partners to enable the most efficient access of medical products to patients minimising delays in patient access to newly authorised treatments.

  • Act as a liaison for industry partners in relation to pilot information sharing initiatives.
  • Be the main point of contact for key stakeholder bodies and support established crossUK relationships with a variety of partners building a strong understanding of the different interests involved and identifying opportunities for collaboration and strategic alliances.
  • Provide an agile and flexible approach to supporting emerging Agency priorities including support of the NHS 10 Year Plan and promotion of alignment with health partners. Identify new opportunities for partnerships that will promote the role of the Agency in supporting innovation to improve the health of patients and the public internationally.
  • Engage with NIHR Office for Clinical Research Infrastructure and the NIHR Clinical Research Network providing both advice on current Agency positions and a point of contact for industry focused activities.
