Job Description

Job Summary/Basic Function:

Are you looking to work in a highenergy fastpaced environment at a nationallyranked Public University If so the Honors College at Boise State University located in the heart of downtown Boise Idaho wants to meet you. The Honors College is home to 1100 students from a variety of majors and backgrounds. Through our coursework and cocurricular programming we support students in cultivating ambition humility and wisdom toward excellence in mind character and community. We believe these traits maximize each students potential for both achieving their goals and making contributions to the welfare of others and the planet.

The Honors College First Year Experience Coordinator will develop implement and evaluate cocurricular events along with educational activities that promote a sense of community among Honors students. This person will advise the Honors social and service committees and create opportunities for student leadership throughout the Honors College. This position will also assist in the promotion of the Honors College to the campus and into the surrounding community through the Honors recruitment and admissions process.

Level Scope:

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills policies and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

Essential Functions:

60 of the time the Honors College Academic Programs Coordinator:

  • Provides administrative support.
  • Facilitates the delivery of required program services.
  • Maintain students files/records.
  • Analyzes data generates and/or assists with and disseminates periodic reports (monthly and semester).
  • May provide support to student groups.
  • May oversee the work of less experienced employees or students.
  • May independently manage specific program activities.
  • Planning and executing assigned projects and operations within the specified department.

35 of the time the Honors College Academic Programs Coordinator:

Programmatic Elements

  • Advises the studentled social and service committees.
  • Supports departmental programs and activities including guest speakers the Honors Welcome Program New Student Orientation Honors House Cup.
  • Oversees the Honors Fall Leadership Course and Spring Break trip.
  • Manages Honors House Cup competition.

Admissions and Recruitment Elements

  • Represents Honors College at recruitment events including orientation Bronco Day Discover Boise State local college fairs and oncampus visits.
  • Assists in largescale Recruitment events such as the Honors Showcase and Honors Virtual Showcase.
  • Assists with reading of Honors applications.
  • Assists with reviewing Honors application appeals.

Administrative Elements

  • Manages weekly communication of events and opportunities to Honors students.
  • Assists in managing Admissions.

5 of the time the Honors College Academic Programs Coordinator:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently and use reference manuals to develop proficiency with software or computer systems.
  • Good organizational written and verbal communication skills in the preparation and presentation of results.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Able to effectively prioritize and work on multiple tasks with concurrent deadlines and demonstrate excellent time management skills and efficiency.

MinimumQualifications:

Bachelors Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Higher Education Student Affairs College Student Personnel or relevant field.
  • Experience programming and evaluating events and/or activities for college students.
  • Knowledge of best practices and trends of university recruitment and admissions.
  • Experience working with an Honors environment.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary range is $50000 to $52000 annually and is commensurate with State University provides a bestinclassbenefits package including (but not limited to):
