Solar Commercial Project Manager/Estimator

Job Description: The Commercial Project Manager / Estimator is responsible for defining commercial solar project scopes creating accurate proposals managing budgets and coordinating team handoffs from design to final . You will work closely with sales engineering purchasing and field operations to deliver successful onbudget solar solutions that align with customer goals and industry standards.
Job Duties
- Collaborate with sales contractors and customers to gather critical data (e.g. energy usage roof conditions service requirements).
- Clarify project goals and ensure all scope details are documented.
- Use design tools (e.g. Aurora PVWatts) to create layouts production estimates and pricing.
- Account for relevant incentives and financial structures in proposals.
- Prepare customerfacing materials highlighting system design ROI and cost benefits.
- Coordinate with sales or directly present to stakeholders for projects involving community solar thirdparty financing or large bid opportunities.
- Provide engineering teams with complete project data (design files utility bills site details).
- Communicate specialized requirements (e.g. new roofs service upgrades future expansions).
- Work with the Director of Commercial Operations and Field Ops Commercial Manager to price and approve any scope changes.
- Manage budgets to maintain profitability targets adjusting estimates and documentation as needed.
- Collaborate with purchasing to secure updated vendor quotes.
- Analyze cost variance reports to refine future estimates and maintain accurate margins.
- Coordinate labor requirements (including prevailing wage rates) with HR and field operations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Advanced math skills
- Exceptional attention to detail in budgeting documentation and scheduling.
- Bachelors degree (Engineering Construction Management or related field) or equivalent experience.
- Prior experience in commercial construction/solar project management and estimation.
- Familiarity with solar design/analysis tools (e.g. Aurora PVWatts).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel Smartsheet Salesforce or other project management platforms.
- Strong interpersonal skills for coordinating crossfunctionally with sales engineering and clients.
- Ability to clearly present complex technical and financial information.
- Proven track record of managing multiple projects and deadlines.

Physical Requirements
This position is mostly in office requiring long periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer however this position also occasionally visits job sites requiring being able to work at heights and navigate commercial rooftops.
