Youll draft legal documents such as affidavits prepare briefs conduct legal research for trial preparation and keep case files and other important information neatly organized and easily accessible. - Manage your time to ensure that billable hour targets 120 per month) are met or exceeded
- Communicate with clients experts and other parties to provide updates and gather information; answer basic questions about the status of the case
- Monitor case progress deadlines and important time frames/milestones
- Draft documents indexes and chronologies; prepare marital settlement agreements; draft pleadings motions and court documents; fill out legal forms; write reports etc.
- Help attorneys prepare cases for mediations/hearings/trials
- Manage discovery: prepare and organize discovery and responses to discovery demands
- Research laws and judicial decisions about current as well as past cases
- Assist attorneys in the courtroom as needed
- Enter billable and nonbillable time in the case management system contemporaneously
- A Paralegal will have completed a course of study offered by a college or university especially for Paralegals and will possess a certification as a trained Paralegal
- A Paralegal should have experience in a law firm. Experience as a legal secretary or legal assistant is especially pertinent and candidates with this background will be given preference
