Job Description

The Audio/Video Technician is responsible for supporting the universitys multimedia technology needs across campus. This position plays a vital role in setting up operating maintaining and troubleshooting audio and video equipment for academic courses campus events special presentations and universitywide ceremonies.


Responsibilities

  • Set up operate and maintain audio/video systems including microphones projectors speakers recording devices and video conferencing tools.
  • Provide onsite A/V support for academic classes university meetings conferences special events and livestreamed programs.
  • Ensure proper installation configuration and testing of multimedia equipment in classrooms lecture halls and event venues.
  • Support faculty staff and students in the use of A/V technology; provide training or quick tutorials as needed.
  • Perform regular maintenance upgrades and inspections of A/V systems to ensure functionality and quality.
  • Troubleshoot A/V issues in real time and provide immediate solutions to minimize disruptions.
  • Collaborate with IT staff and event coordinators to ensure all technical requirements are met for campus events.
  • Assist with the production of multimedia content including video editing captioning and format conversion.
  • Maintain inventory of A/V equipment cables and accessories; track repairs and replacements.
  • Stay current with emerging A/V technologies and recommend enhancements to improve university multimedia capabilities.

Education

  • Associates degree in Audio/Video Technology Communications Information Technology or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years of handson A/V experience in a professional or educational setting.
  • Proficiency with a wide range of A/V equipment and software (e.g. soundboards projectors cameras streaming platforms).
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds.
