Job Description
The Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) team is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Applied Scientist. You will develop and implement stateoftheart algorithms and models for advanced information retrieval and tune LLMbased prompting to optimize Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) for customer experiences.
As a Senior Applied Scientist you will play a critical role developing Amazons foundational Generative AI (Gen AI) technologies that serve our global customers.
Key job responsibilities
Collaborate with crossfunctional teams of engineers product managers and scientists to identify and solve complex problems in Gen AI
Design and execute experiments to evaluate the performance of different algorithms and models and iterate quickly to improve results
Think big about the arc of development of Gen AI over a multiyear horizon and identify new opportunities to apply these technologies to solve realworld problems
Communicate results and insights to both technical and nontechnical audiences including through presentations and written reports
3 years of building machine learning models for business application experience
PhD or Masters degree and 6 years of applied research experience
Experience programming in Java C Python or related language
Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning
3 years of building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application experience
Experience with popular deep learning frameworks such as MxNet and Tensor Flow.
Knowledge of programming languages such as C/C Python Java or Perl

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $150400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity signon payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
