Are you passionate about advocating for underrepresented youth and creating inclusive equitable environments where all identities are supported and celebrated The Oregon Youth Authority is excited to announce an opportunity to join our Office of Inclusion and Intercultural Relations (OIIR) as a Multicultural Program Coordinator Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity & Expression (SOGIE).
As a Multicultural Program Coordinator for SOGIE you will provide leadership and education on key topics related to sexuality gender LGBTQ support/advocacy and the intersectionality of identity.
In this impactful role you will serve as the cochair for OYAS Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity & Expression (SOGIE) committee and the LGBTQ Advisory Chair. As cochair of OYAs SOGIE Committee and chair of the LGBTQ Advisory Council you will serve as a key voice and advocate within our agency helping shape culturally responsive programming that reflects the needs and experiences of Oregons greater LGBTQ community both in close custody facilities and in communitybased programs.
Essential Duties:
Provide leadership and education on sexuality gender LGBTQ advocacy and identity intersectionality.
Develop and implement culturally affirming strategies and support systems that promote belonging and identity safety to youth with SOGIErelated needs.
Train and coach staff to better understand identify and respond to the unique needs of underrepresented youth and how to connect them with appropriate services and resources.
Connect SOGIE youth with appropriate affirming services and resources.
Collaborate with community organizations culturally specific service providers and state partners to build inclusive support networks.
Coordinate and facilitate multicultural celebrations events and observances that foster pride visibility and cultural awareness throughout OYA facilities and programs.
Work onsite in a close custody facility ensuring safety supervision and adherence to security protocols.
Maintain situational awareness and respond appropriately to ensure the safety of both youth and staff.
Center diversity equity and inclusion (DEI) as both a value and a practice. You will be expected to apply an equity lens to all aspects of your workdecisionmaking policy development program design and daytoday interactionswith the goal of achieving just and equitable outcomes for all youth and staff in OYAs care.
Promote just and equitable outcomes for all youth and staff within OYA programs and facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelors Degree in Business or Public Administration Behavioral or Social Sciences or a degree related to the agency program that demonstrates the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and four years experience coordinating or administering a program
OR;
Any combination of experience or education equivalent to seven years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skill requirements listed for the classification.

Experience developing leading and facilitating group learning sessions celebrations/events and family support services.
Demonstrated understanding knowledge (through lived experience or previous work) and ability to support diverse and marginalized youth populationsparticularly those who identify as LGBTQ African American Indigenous NHNAPIwhile honoring their histories traditions and cultures.
Knowledge and ability to match SOGIE youth and families with appropriate community organizations and resources across Oregon including both rural and urban areas.
Demonstrated experience developing and implementing statewide strategies and trainings for expanded inclusion of marginalized communities.
Experience as an effective chair or cochair of advisory committees or councils to advance needs of marginalized populations.
