Summary of Job Duties:

The APRN/PA will extend the patient care and administrative services for the UAMS
Women and Infants Service Line (WISL) physicians in the outpatient settings. APRN/PA will be expected to provide comprehensive health assessments determine diagnoses implement treatment plans perform procedures and prescribe medicines and treatments. The APRN/PA will also manage health issues for patients independently or in collaboration with the designated physicians. The APRN/PA will work autonomously as well as in collaboration with a variety of individuals to diagnose and manage patients health care problems; and will serve as a health care resource interdisciplinary consultant and patient advocate. The APRN/PA will also coordinate the multidisciplinary care of patients facilitating all necessary consults assuring that care is timely and appropriate.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualification:

  • Masters Degree

  • Two 2 years nursing experience

  • Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas; APRN/CPN License or PA with State Medical Board.

  • Current BLS certification or must successfully obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment.

  • Must be able to operate all typical nursing equipment essential to performing the job (i.e. scales procedure equipment needles blood pressure equipment and EKG machines).

  • Must have normal communication sensory requirement.

  • Ability to comply with CDC Universal Precautions when indicated.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Preferred nursing experience in endocrine or womens health.

  • Prescriptive authority and DEA license must be obtained after hire.


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Delivers prenatal intrapartum and postpartum care to women including routine assessments screenings and management of complications.

  • Collaborates with maternalfetal medicine specialists to care for patients with conditions such as diabetes hypertension and placental abnormalities.

  • Supports laboring patients assist with deliveries and respond to obstetric emergencies in the labor and delivery unit.

  • Conducts newborn assessments manage common neonatal conditions and collaborate with the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) team for more complex cases.

  • Provides education on breastfeeding safe sleep practices infant care and postpartum mental health to families.

  • Engages in telehealth consultations to extend care to underserved populations ensuring access to specialized services.

  • Collaborates with obstetricians pediatricians lactation consultants and social workers to deliver holistic care to mothers and infants.

  • Engages in quality assurance and improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes and care delivery processes.

  • Delivers care through mobile health units and community outreach programs ensuring access to services for women in rural areas.

  • Contributes to clinical research and provide education to medical students residents and other healthcare professionals.

  • May perform other duties assigned.
