Primary Purpose of this Position:
The North Carolina Aquariums on Roanoke Island isseeking a dynamic efficient and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Assistant Aquarium Curator. The Assistant Aquarium Curator position will assist the Aquarium Curator and manage the health and welfare of the Aquariums diverse animal collections which include fishes birds reptiles mammals amphibians and invertebrates through management of animal habitats and aquatic exhibits exceeding 300000 gallons. The Assistant Curator will share oncall duties with the Husbandry Curator to provide 24 hour per day coverage to ensure the wellbeing of the collection.

Bachelors degree in Art History Biology Botany Conservation Education History or Zoology from an appropriately accredited institution
AND
four years of museum or related work;

an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Section/Unit Description:The North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Islandis located in Manteo NC nine miles from the Atlantic coastline in Nags Head. The 61000 squarefoot facility is sited on 16 acres overlooking the Croatan Sound and houses over 2200 animals. More than 280000 guests visit the aquarium each year to see a large array of sharks learn about sea turtle conservation participate in a variety of programs enjoy the beauty of the area and learn why North Carolinas waterways are so special.
