You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Selim Center provides high quality educational experiences for adult learners with nearly 200 hours of instruction each year in single and multisession course offerings to more than 1100 students. In addition its students enroll as auditors in undergraduate classes. The Center leads studytravel opportunities including a partnership with the College of Arts & Sciences for the annual We March for Justice intergenerational studytravel trip. As a primary vehicle leading USTs participation as a 2025 member of the AgeFriendly University Global Network the Centers programming also provides an easyin avenue for older adults to engage with the University.
The position is a 12month appointment for a 3year term with the possibility of renewal for another term. The annual time commitment includes fall and spring semesters as well as some summer and Jterm work. The director receives three releases annually which may be used to release teaching service and/or research duties with approval from the faculty members department chair and dean. An annual summer stipend of $7000 is also offered to cover summer work. The preferred start date is July 1 2025. There will be an opportunity to shadow the current Selim director upon hiring. Note that planning for Fall 2025 programming will be complete before the new director begins so the director will have time to transition and work on Spring 2026 programming.
The responsibilities of this position include the following:
Applicants must be fulltime St. Thomas faculty with a tenuretrack tenured clinical or teaching professor appointment and a minimum of three years at St. Thomas.
Skills/qualifications:
The director reports to the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs. Finalists for the position will be asked to consult with their department chair/program director and dean about pursuing the Faculty Director opportunity and the nature of the releases.
