Position Highlights

  • This position is based in Sioux Falls SD. Occasional travel to satellite clinics may be required.
  • Salary will be commensurate based on experience and board certification.

8:00am5:00pm occas wknd/hol/call; 80hrs/2wks

A Brief Overview

Oversees the radiation therapy equipment and acceptance. The Physicist consults with the Radiation Oncologists Dosimetrists and Physicists concerning patient dose radiation exposure and safety. The Physicist oversees the radiation quality assurance programs and development.

What you will do

  • Performs acceptance testing calibration and safety surveys of imaging and radiation therapy equipment.
  • Develops purchasing and acceptance specification for imaging and radiation therapy equipment.
  • Consults with the radiologist and radiation oncologist concerning patient dose determinations.
  • Consults with other physicians and patients regarding radiation exposure and safety.
  • Teaches and presents continued education programs for appropriate audience.
  • Develops implements and supervises quality control programs.
  • Researches and develops new devices and modalities for improved diagnostics and therapeutic uses of radiation.
  • Participates in NRC licensed procedures under direction of an Authorized Medical Physicist.
  • All of the above duties are performed under the guidance and oversight of a Board Certified Physicist.

Essential Qualifications

The individual must be able to work the hours specified. To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others hear understand and distinguish speech and other sounds. Required Education License/Certification or Work Experience:

  • Masters in medical physics
  • Successful completion of part one of ABR certification in Therapeutic Medical Physics or 10 years minimum experience as a practicing medical physicist.

Preferred Education License/Certification or Work Experience:

  • Masters Graduation from or eligibility to graduate from a CAMPEP program
  • Medical Physics Therapeutic Medical Physics American Board of Radiology (ABR) Board eligibility for American Board of Radiology (ABR) Upon Hire
