Duties and Responsibilities

1.*Serves as the Senior Research Development Administrator for SOEST responsible for driving the acquisition of external funding through grant development and proposal writing.

2.*Collaborates with research enterprise stakeholders to develop grant proposals that align with SOESTs research priorities and supports continued growth.

3.*Tracks relevant grant funding opportunities from federal funding agencies nonprofit foundations and other relevant organizations by navigating databases and search engines.

4.*Stays abreast of funding trends proposal & award policies and procedures of various funding sources to inform grant development strategies.

5.*Follows effective communication channels with principal investigators (PIs) and departmental administrators to forge meaningful research collaborations and ensure proposal alignment with strategic objectives.

6.*Utilizes project management skills to create checklists develop timelines and deliverables for various projects to track progress and ensure deadlines are met.

7.*Supports PIs on assembling complex highquality proposal applications and advises on the progress and status of various projects as well as the possibility of anticipated challenges and solutions.

8.*Drafts grant supporting documents including tool kits templates and relevant resource materials to streamline the assembly of proposal components and provide proposal editing services as needed to enhance quality.

9.*Coordinates with SOESTs communications staff to create compelling graphics infographics and visuals that enhance grant proposals and may be incorporated into materials for resource sharing and marketing purposes.

10.*Serves as a connector across SOEST units for management and coordination between fiscal and administrative entities to develop accurate budgets maintains spreadsheets to monitor spending ensures compliance tracking with funding agency guidelines conducts presubmission proposal reviews and oversees postaward requirements.

11.*Utilizes project and grants management software to maintain a comprehensive database of records of application submissions outcomes to showcase progress and impact interim and final reporting activities and note trends to inform future grant development strategies.

12.Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1.Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration Public Administration nonprofit management Earth Science Oceanography Atmospheric Science Ocean Resource Engineering or related field and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for contracts and grants management; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.

2.Considerable working knowledge of principles practices and techniques in the area of contract and grants management as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standards and evolving concepts principles and methodologies.

3.Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws rules regulations and theories and systems associated with contracts and grants management and extramural funding.

4.Demonstrated ability to resolve wideranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective innovative and timely manner.

5.Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing verbally and by the preparation of reports and other materials.

6.Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals.

7.Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.

8.For supervisory work demonstrated ability to lead subordinates manage work priorities and projects and manage employee relations.

9.Proven professional experience in grant preparation and management with knowledge of grant funding mechanisms from relevant government agencies nonprofit foundations and corporate philanthropy.

10.Solid understanding of budgeting and financial reporting related to grantfunded projects.

11.Extensive experience with using productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suite project management software and grants management software.

12.Possess research analytical and writing skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear and compelling narratives.

13.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.

14.Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines.

15.Ethical and professional conduct with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

Desirable Qualifications

1.Masters degree in a related field

2.Professional experience with grants secured from diverse funding sources within an academic research environment.
