About the Growth Team
At Gorgias we believe commerce is a force for good empowering merchants to grow. As traditional ecommerce models face privacy challenges conversational AI unlocks new engagement opportunities offering a personalized interactive experience: like being greeted by a store founder. With 18000 merchants and strong brand recognition Gorgias is uniquely positioned to become the conversational AI for ecommerce. Already adopted by 1500 merchants our AI solutions are set to reshape customer interactions tapping into a $400M market opportunity just on Shopify.
At Gorgias the Growth team is responsible for optimizing the entire customer journeyaccelerating acquisition improving activation and driving expansion. Initially this includes ownership of our billing system pricing and packaging and onboarding experiences.
The vision for the team includes expansion into a full tribe dedicated to Product Led Growth partnering with our GoToMarket teams and driving expansion and monetization of new and existing products. Theres a stepup opportunity here for the right engineering leader who demonstrates the skills and business acumen needed to lead this group.
About the Role
The role is leading a highperforming squad currently focused on revamping our billing system and integrations with our financial partners. You will work with stakeholders in the GoToMarket Finance and Product orgs to ensure the successful delivery of this work while leading the engineers and guiding their decision making.
At Gorgias our engineering managers perform both technical and people leadership functions. While not directly in the code daytoday you will provide guidance review the teams work and help team members grow their technical and nontechnical skills to move forward in their career. Youll partner with the Product and Design teams to make sure plans are technically feasible and achievable and keep the team focused on desired business outcomes.
The position is available in our Toronto (Canada) office and across our European hubs including Paris (France) Lisbon (Portugal) Belgrade (Serbia) and Bucharest (Romania). Our work arrangement is hybrid with a requirement of two days per week in the office.
Who You Are
5 years experience in software development preferably SaaS product development.
2 years of experience in an engineering manager position
Experience with hightraffic applications and continuous development/deployment
Experience with distributed systems and asynchronous workloads
Big plus if you have managed through architectural transformations especially from Monolithic ones heavy on cronjobs towards Eventdriven architecture
Desirable experience with Kafka Python Flink and Java
Desireable to have worked in a distributed team across timezones before
You care about working on applications that are putting the customers needs first and you thrive in a fastpaced environment
