Job Description

About the role
Reporting directly to the Compliance Manager this Surplus Lines Compliance Analyst position is responsible for surplus lines carrier reporting for various states which includes reconciliations review and analysis. There will also be system testing where you will write and execute test plans for our internal reporting system SLFS.


This role is responsible for

  • Reviewing transactions that are identified as exceptions to determine the root cause and to facilitate the necessary corrective action.

  • Validating surplus lines licenses and confirming they are eligible for use in the various underwriting systems.

  • Communicating with various state departments of insurance or other regulatory agencies regarding any inquiries related to the carriers.

  • Managing a group mailbox that handles customer service type questions and requests for all things surplus lines related from both internal and external parties.

  • Documentation of requirements for any changes to existing insurance company reports or creation of new reports.

  • Reconciliation of surplus lines insurance company data and surplus lines agency data.

  • Help identify and raise issues to management for resolution so we can continue to make the process as compliant and efficient as possible.

  • State reporting for surplus lines insurance companies.

  • Escalate any potential issues to management.

  • All reports and reconciliations must be completed in accordance with state regulatory requirements and must be submitted to the state by the due date after being review and approved if required.

  • Participate in state audits

  • SLFS maintenance & updates

  • Participate in system testing when needed

  • Report underwriting system issues

  • Provide feedback to manager & Compliance regarding any training needs


What were looking for

  • Selfstarter able to work independently and autonomously as well as a member of a collaborative team.

  • 3 years relevant insurance experience or knowledge of insurance; specifically in surplus lines is a plus.

  • Great communication analytical and organizational skills

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and with a highlevel of attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to work with various organizational levels

  • Proficient in MS Word Excel Outlook and Adobe Acrobat.
