The Position:
The Customs Team Lead will be responsible for overseeing and leading a team of customs brokers to ensure the timely and accurate processing of imports and exports in compliance with all relevant laws regulations and policies.
This role is a great opportunity for a Customs Broker who is looking to start their managerial journey.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead motivate and manage a team of customs brokers ensuring high performance and efficient workflow.
- Provide training mentorship and development opportunities for team members to improve skills and knowledge in customs compliance.
Customs Compliance
- Ensure all import and export shipments comply with local and international customs regulations laws and procedures.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of accurate documentation i.e. customs declarations entry forms invoices etc.
- Resolve issues related to classification valuation and compliance that arise
Client Interaction & Support
- Serve as escalation point of contact for clients regarding customsrelated inquiries and issues.
- Provide advice to clients on customs regulations import/export procedures and trade compliance best practices.
Risk Management & Process Improvement
- Continuously assess and improve customs brokerage processes systems and procedures to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Conduct internal audits and reviews to ensure adherence to industry regulations and company policies.
Who We are Looking For:
- Licensed Customs Broker
- Minimum 5 years experience in customs brokerage
- Open to candidates without formal leadership experience who are keen to step up to a managerial role
- Strong understanding of customs laws regulations and import/export processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities
Preferred candidates will be required to undertake reference checks as well as preemployment screening including a National Police Check. Where applicable background checks including Employment History and Education History (including Qualifications) may be required.
