Primary Purpose:
Nacogdoches ISD is seeking a highly motivated individual with strong leadership organizational and personal skills. This teaching area provides students with the skills needed to be successful in both postsecondary studies and throughout their career. Teacher will provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help fulfill their potential for intellectual emotional physical and social growth. Areas of focus include leadership teamwork employability skills communication career investigation problem solving decisionmaking and leadership. Provide students with extracurricular contest opportunities by promoting and maintaining a strong FFA participation. Guide students to achieve workforce ready AWS Basic Welding certification(s) prior to graduating.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelors degree associate degree or high school diploma/GED and equivalent wageearning experience as required by certification
- Valid Texas career and technical education certificate with required license endorsements and training for subjects and level assigned or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI).
- AWS Welding Certification preferred
- OSHA Certification preferred
- Demonstrate competency in the career and technical education subject area assigned
certifications:Agriculture Food and Natural Resources Grades 612; or any vocational agriculture certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of academic subject assigned
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Student teaching approved internship or related work experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of districts curriculum program and show written eveidence of preparation as required.
- Prepare lessons that reflect acccommodations for differences in student learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency board polices and adminstiractive regulations.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies activities materials and equipment that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
- Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan for instructional activities.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to midfy curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals objectives and methods according to district requirements.
- Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
Student Growth and Development
- Serve as advisor to local Future Farmers of American (FFA) chapter including planning and conducting leadership citizenship cooperative career development and competitive activities for students at local regional and state level.
- Provide oversight support and assistance for student animal projects and stock shows.
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal i.e. class sponsor and student organizations.
- Be a positive role model for students support mission of school district.
Classroom Management and Organization
- Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical social and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
- Assist in selection of books equipment and other instructional materials.
- Purchase and inventory of supplies and equipment of the agricultural program
- Comanage all agricultural science facilities
Communication
- Work with booster club and campus administration
- Ability to work in a multiteacher department and willingness to be part of a team concept.
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents students principals and teachers.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues students parents and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Professional Growth and Development
- Participate in staff development activities to improve jobrelated skills.
- Keep informed of and comply with federal state district and school regulations and policies forclassroomteachers.
- Compile maintain and file all physical and computerized reports records and other documents required.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Travel Requirements
- Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
- Travels to student workplace industry partnership locations professional development industry competitions student conferences/competitions/events/camps/livestock shows skill training and/or possible vendor locations as needed

Supervise assigned teacher aide(s) if applicable.

Use of agricultural equipment; Plasma Machine metal bending grinding cutting and shaping equipment; manual and batteryoperated hand tools; may lift and move agriculture equipment and animals; work outside and inside; exposure to extreme temperatures (hot cold inclement weather) humidity and prolonged sunlight; exposure to biological hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; work around moving objects or vehicles; work on uneven or slippery surfaces; work around animals; may work alone; frequent districtwide and statewide travel
