Job Description

We areaccepting applications foran Elementary Literacy Interventionist for theschool year.

New employees are expected to attend New Teacher Orientation on August 14th & 15th and the week of staff professional development beginning August 18th. The first day of school for students is August 25 2025.

The Elementary Literacy Specialist plays a critical role in supporting student literacy development within a MultiTiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework. This position involves working with students teachers and school leadership to improve literacy outcomes through assessment targeted interventions smallgroup instruction professional development and coaching. The ideal candidate holds (or is working toward) a Reading Specialist Certification and has a strong background in literacy instruction datadriven decisionmaking and tiered support strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

MultiTiered System of Supports (MTSS) & DataDriven Instruction

  • Implement and support the MTSS framework to provide differentiated literacy instruction and interventions.
  • Analyze and interpret literacy assessment data to identify students at risk and determine appropriate tiered interventions.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school teams to develop and monitor individualized support plans for students at Tier 1 (whole group) Tier 2 (targeted small group) and Tier 3 (intensive intervention) levels.
  • Participate in data team meetings to review student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.

Student Assessment & Progress Monitoring

  • Administer and analyze literacy assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
  • Utilize progress monitoring tools to track the effectiveness of interventions and adjust support as needed.
  • Support teachers in using formative and summative assessment data to refine literacy instruction.

Small Group Instruction & Intervention

  • Provide targeted evidencebased literacy interventions for students needing additional support.
  • Design and implement smallgroup instruction aligned with student needs focusing on phonemic awareness phonics fluency comprehension and writing.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate intervention strategies into daily literacy instruction.

Teacher Coaching & Professional Development

  • Provide jobembedded coaching to support teachers in implementing researchbased literacy instruction and interventions.
  • Model effective literacy strategies coteach lessons and provide feedback to enhance teacher effectiveness.
  • Lead professional development sessions on literacy best practices assessment use and differentiated instruction.
  • Support teachers in implementing highquality literacy instruction that aligns with state standards and school curriculum.

Collaboration & Literacy Leadership

  • Work closely with administrators interventionists special education staff and EL specialists to ensure coordinated literacy support.
  • Lead schoolwide literacy initiatives such as book clubs family literacy nights and reading challenges.
  • Stay up to date with current literacy research and MTSS best practices to enhance instructional programming.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Masters degree in Literacy Reading Education or a related field preferred.
  • Reading Specialist Certification preferred.
  • Experience in elementary literacy instruction MTSS implementation assessment and intervention.
  • Strong knowledge of literacy development phonics comprehension strategies and writing instruction.
  • Effective coaching and collaboration skills to support teachers and students.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
