ESM is a centralized organization responsible for managing the enterprisewide endtoend purchasing experience. ESM helps uphold Vanguards mission by enabling the company to maximize its thirdparty supplier relationships through sourcing strategies performance and risk management activities and providing accurate and timely payments to our suppliers. With more than 4000 suppliers supporting Vanguards its critical that we continually identify ways to enhance and derive value from these relationships.
The ESM organization was created to proactively identify opportunities with suppliers and capture increased value for Vanguard crew. While saving dollars and cents on individual contracts is valuable the group also acts to ensure business units select suppliers that closely align with Vanguards interests (like securing sensitive data or providing bestinclass client service) and fostering strategic relationships with more innovative partners.
About the Role
The International Category Manager will support and manage all supply and demand requests from the International Divisions clients related to third party suppliers. This includes meeting regularly with key clients and suppliers understanding their strategic business needs understanding the suppliers in the market (their current capabilities and roadmaps) collaborating on cost savings/reduction efforts with FP&A to clearly link ESMs value capture back into International P&Ls. Regions include Australia Canada Europe and Mexico. Regular monthly reporting across International ESM is required. Quarterly reporting to senior management is also required including submitting and presenting from timetotime to the Head of ESM International CFO and the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis and Enterprise Strategic Services. This role will report directly into Europes Head of Financial Planning & Analysis and matrix into a member of the ESM Leadership Team in the US.
Core Responsibilities
Hires evaluates and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards reviews performance and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures. Provides thought leadership and oversight to support international engagement strategy and delivers guidance on OKR/Right Start strategic directions to support ESMs overall goals/key initiatives. Directs strategic planning and makes key decisions that provide strategic direction for ESM including category and supplier strategies. Leverages data analytics and insights in such strategies that are aligned to business priorities and forecasting. Prepares and presents strategic analysis findings and potential solutions into actionable recommendations. Crafts data into a compelling storyline with actionable insights for the senior management. Maintains accordance with industry best practice/trends defines standards within ESM in the space of competitive bidding contracting and supplier management. Understands regulatory requirements. Recommends new and enhanced capabilities and services to protect Vanguard as required. Directly partners with Office of General Counsel Third Party Risk Management Enterprise Security and Fraud and other partners to understand key concerns and opportunities for their specifics functions. Leads highly complex and impactful strategic competitive and product analyses. Partners with leaders to define problem issues and planned approach for research and analyses. This includes negotiations and supplier selection for products and services. Manages contracts and relationships for suppliers within categories including but not limited to: Banking and Market Data Technology Human Resources Professional Services and Facilities supporting the International Division. Champion global procurement process compliance. Educate key stakeholders about commercial compliance legal policy and other considerations in support of the contract negotiation or supplier management process. Working with ESM TPRM and Risk Domain Groups (e.g. Global Privacy InfoSec Compliance Business Continuity Financial Crimes Artificial Intelligence etc. and other groups as required to create and augment existing Standard Operating Procedures and RACIs. Creates and delivers training content as required. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
