Job Description
TITLE: Counselor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters degree in Counseling or Psychology
- Current Arizona Counseling Certification
- Demonstrates effective communication skills
- Demonstrates initiative and ability to innovate
- Three years of Counseling experience or relevant work with similar demographic population as TESD.
- Demonstrates the ability to work with small groups and in a classroom setting.
- Bilingual preferred.
REPORTS TO: Principal
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Uses accepted theories and effective techniques to provide individual developmental group developmental preventive remedial and/or crisis counseling
- Facilitate the student led organizations (intercurricular club).
- Provide students with support to identify and overcome barriers to success.
- Broker of resourcesconnect students and families to school and community resources.
- Provides support to teachers in assessing and dealing with social and emotional issues experienced by students.
- Documentation of services and outcome reporting.
- Coordinate High School Transition Events.
- Serves on the District Crisis Team
- Other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Ten month employee on the Certified Placement Schedule.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of Professional Staff.
