COMM 2500 Introduction to Communication Studies
Lecture Hour(s): 3
Course Description: When we consume information or communicate with others we are sharing and assessing facts ideas opinions and biases. In doing so we are developing a sense of who we are as individuals and were also making decisions about how our world functions. This course will introduce students to the discipline of Communication Studies and permit examination of a range of communication theories which describe these dynamic social and personal processes.
FALL COMMIntro to Communication Studies Lecture Lecture MT235
Masters degree min. in Communication or adjacent fields.
Capacity to work cooperatively across multiple sections of a course.
Experience having taught at an undergraduate level within Communications or adjacent fields. for a min. of 1 semester.
Coursespecific experience required:
Experience in instructing students on Academic writing best practices.

The Faculty of Business Communication Studies & Aviation comprises the Bissett School of Business the School of Communication Studies and the Aviation Program. The Bissett School of Business offers a fouryear Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with majors in accounting human resources general management (with concentrations in innovation and entrepreneurship social innovation). Students in the Bissett School of Business can take a fouryear Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree. The Aviation Program is housed in the Department of International Business Supply Chain and Aviation and offers a twoyear Aviation Diploma and the newly launched fouryear Bachelor of Aviation Management. Students in the School of Communications Studies take a fouryear Bachelor of Communication Studies (BComms) and can pursue majors in Broadcast Media Studies Information Design Journalism and Public addition to the two degrees and their majors students are offered a variety of minors concentrations and certificates to complement their major.
