SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT

Under general direction of the building principal provides administrative direction coordination and educational leadership in the school in cooperation with the principal other building staff and district administration.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Demonstrates understanding of and ability to accomplish goals within established school districtpolicies administrative regulations state guidelines and current educational research anddevelopment.
  • Maintains an awareness of important issues in the school and maintains a commitment to theindividual needs of students staff and parents.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity understanding and commitment to diversity and affirmative action.
  • Applies these principles to working relationships with students staff parents and the schoolcommunity.
  • Applies knowledge and skills of supervision to programs and personnel through leadership that inspires staff and students to contribute their best efforts.
  • Assumes responsibility for the organization implementation and administration of assignedschool programs such as student records discipline student activities and supervision ofcertificated and classified staff.
  • Evaluates assigned certificated and classified staff in accordance with District processes. Completes observations and provides performance evaluations that are supported by fact.
  • Assists the principal with development and maintenance of an effective instructional andguidance program to include effective use of curriculum materials instructional supplies andequipment.
  • Supports and monitors compliance with the Districts curriculum including multicultural educationprograms. Researches and coordinates appropriate inservice training opportunities for staffmembers.
  • Assists with budget preparation as required.
  • Prepares reports and maintains current records as required. Analyzes and utilizes the data toimplement program improvements within the building.
  • Works with the principal to assist in the effective operation of the site council and helps todevelop implement monitor and evaluate the school improvement plan.
  • Supervises school safety programs; coordinates periodic drills for fire earthquake or otherdisasters to ensure compliance with District State and Federal regulations.
  • Maintains current knowledge skills abilities and professional capabilities in educational leadership through participation in workshops university classes journals and professionalorganizations.
  • Supervises afterschool activities as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Masters degree in educational administration or related field.
  • Three 3 years of teaching experience.
  • Experience in a leadership role at the building or district level i.e. district wide committee or taskforce etc.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent written and oral communication and human relations skills.
  • Knowledge of current educational research and effective instructional practices.
  • Ability to provide energetic positive visible and creative leadership and change within the schoolbuilding.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to model and encourage excellence for staff and students.
  • Ability to develop and support outreach activities that result in community and parental support for all aspects of the schools program.
  • Ability to organize own work and accomplish work independently.
  • Ability to solve problems in a manner that considers the needs of students and all partiesinvolved.

Certification and Licenses

  • Eligibility for Washington State Principals Certification.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with sitebased management.
  • Knowledge of Title 1 Schoolwide projects school reform initiates and innovative educationalmodels such as Success for All Accelerated Schools and Pideia.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in an elementary school. During a normal work day employee may have to go outside and maneuver steps ramps and uneven ground in all types of weather. Must have normal use of fingers hands and arms: ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time; and tolerance for occasional loud noises. Some evening work may be required to meet with parents district administration or community representative.

**Internal candidates may be placed on a longevity step per corresponding collective bargaining agreement.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28A.400.303. (NOTE: All associated background check fees are the employees responsibility. The fingerprint scan must be completed prior to the first day of employment.

Employees who are anticipated to work 630 hours during the school year (September 1 through August 31 are eligible for medical dental vision long term disability and basic life insurance benefits.

Retirement and Deferred Compensation

Eligible employees are required to be a member of the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems Plan. . For eligibility information check on the link to theDepartment of Retirement Systems web site.

Employees also have the ability to participate in tax deferred 403(b) and 457 Deferred Compensation Plans (DCP). These are supplemental retirement savings programs that allows you control over the amount of pretax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.
