Job Description
SPED Educational Diagnostician 5 positions available) @ Central Special Education

To assist Alief ISD schools in the referral coordination and monitoring process for students referred to special education and/or to assist Alief ISD schools in the development of appropriate educational programs for students.
Education/Certification:
- Diagnostician Certified by the Texas Education Agency as an Educational Diagnostician
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of federal and state special education rules and regulations including special education disability categories and impact educationally
- Knowledge of specially designed instruction & current evaluation practices in identification of students with disabilities
- Knowledge of prevention and intervention strategies in learning
- Ability to coordinate manage and collaborate with staff in accordance with duties
- Effective communication human relations and leadership skills
- Proficient in use of digital tools including Google Suite Microsoft 365 ARD/IEP Software and Learning Platform Management Systems
- Bilingual preferred
Experience:
- Three 3 years of teaching experience special education preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Program Management for Both
- Manage campus special education assessment caseloads (coordinate meetings and manage processes for students referred to special education).
- Conduct Full Individual Evaluation for students referred to special education (initiate coordinate collaborate monitor progress on and complete evaluations within appropriate timelines).
- Review all Existing Evaluation Data to make appropriate determinations for the need for additional assessment.
- Review assessment results received from other school districts/outside sources to assure that all requirements/Texas Education Agency criteria are met.
- Adhere to mandatory timelines and compliance for program management.
- Assist with and/or conduct parent conferences for the purpose of reviewing and interpreting assessment results in a timely and appropriate manner to ensure parent meaningful participation in the ARD process.
- Provide teacher/staff consultation related to assessment results and educational planning of students evaluated.
- Participate in Case Review Committees as prescribed.
- Administer and interpret intelligence and achievement measures and conduct full individual evaluations for educational purposes.
- Assist in the preparation of appropriate individual educational plans (IEPs) for students in special education.
- Attend and participate in professional development meetings.
- Update skills as needed and directed.
- Prepare Facilitate and Lead ARD Committee meetings REED Meetings or other meetings which involve special education assessment related needs of children.
Other
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
- Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
You may be asked to provide mentorship and/or supervision if appropriate.
Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of Diagnostician Personnel.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals
Posture: Standing prolonged sitting occasional kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing pulling and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head
Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying 1545 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

Pay Grade: P04
Salary Range Min. $63536 Mid. $75878 Max. $88218(Based on previous experience)
Salary schedule with 3 of midpoint increase approved by the Board. Salary schedule soon to be released.
This individual will receive $500.00 stipend for Masters. If applicable a $4500 Bilingual stipend.
