storekeepers job is to manage inventory organize storage and ensure the efficient flow of goods within a store or warehouse. They receive and dispatch goods maintain accurate records and monitor stock levels to prevent shortages and overstocking.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
Maintaining accurate records of stock levels tracking movements and ensuring goods are readily available.
Receiving and Dispatching:
Receiving goods from suppliers checking for damage and organizing them for storage. Dispatching goods to customers or other departments.
Storage Organization:
Arranging storage areas to maximize space ensure safety and facilitate easy access to inventory.
Record Keeping:
Maintaining detailed records of all transactions including receipts issues and stock levels.
Problem Solving:
Identifying and resolving issues related to inventory management storage or logistics.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Additional Responsibilities (depending on the specific role):
Supervising: Supervising other store staff training new employees and assigning tasks.
Ordering: Initiating purchase orders when stock levels reach a certain point.
Inventory Analysis: Analyzing inventory data to identify trends optimize stock levels and minimize waste.
Communication: Communicating with suppliers other departments and customers.
Skills and Qualifications:
Organizational skills: Ability to manage inventory efficiently and keep records accurate.
Attention to detail: Accurately receiving storing and dispatching goods.
Problemsolving skills: Ability to identify and resolve issues related to inventory management.
Communication skills: Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers other departments and customers.
Physical stamina: Ability to lift and move heavy items.
Knowledge of inventory management systems: Experience using software to manage inventory records.
Experience in warehousing or retail operations: Understanding of how goods are received stored and dispatched.
