Job Description

Posting Title: Special Education Teacher Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialty (DHH)

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher to join our team for theschool year. The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing ensuring they receive equitable access to education. This role involves working across various grade levels within the district collaborating with educators families and support staff to foster an inclusive learning environment.

Position Overview:
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each students needs.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies.
  • Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
  • Facilitate communication between students families and school staff to support student success.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions.
  • Provide direct instruction using appropriate communication methods including American Sign Language (ASL) and other assistive technologies.

Requirements

Candidates should hold a Bachelor s or Master s degree in Deaf Education or a closely related field along with a valid Georgia teaching certification that includes an endorsement in Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is highly preferred as it greatly enhances communication and instruction. Ideal applicants will have prior experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential for fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
