Job Description
The Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) team is looking for a Senior Applied Scientist to work on pretraining methodologies for Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) models. You will interact closely with our customers and with the academic and research communities. You will be at the heart of a growing and exciting focus area for Amazon working with other acclaimed engineers and worldfamous scientists.
Key job responsibilities

Scaling laws
Hardwareinformed efficient model architecture lowprecision training
Optimization methods learning objectives curriculum design
Deep learning theories on efficient hyperparameter search and selfsupervised learning
Reasoning selfreflection interactive learning data synthesis
Distributed training methods and solutions
About the team
The AGI team has a mission to push the envelope in LLMs and multimodal systems in order to provide the bestpossible experience for our customers.
PhD or Masters degree and 5 years of applied research experience
3 years of building machine learning models for business application experience
Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning
Experience programming in Java C Python or related language
Experience with deep learning frameworks such as Pytorch and JAX.
PhD in engineering technology computer science machine learning robotics operations research statistics mathematics or equivalent quantitative field or Masters degree and 6 years of industry or academic research experience
Experience with patents or publications at toptier peerreviewed conferences or journals
Relevant Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) research experience with LLMs and multimodalities
For system researchers familiarity with deep learning compilers autoparallelization and XLA/MLIR ecosystems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $150400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity signon payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
