Job Description

Due to growth and expansion Northern Star (Pogo) LLC have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an Mobile Equipment Mechanic Heavy Duty at our worldclass Pogo operation in Alaska on a rotational camp schedule.

Whats the role

The Mobile Maintenance Mechanic reports to the Maintenance Supervisor with a primary role of maintaining underground mobile and associated ancillary equipment. All maintenance activities undertaken are to be done in a timely and costeffective manner whilst adhering to Company standards policies and procedures. This is to minimize downtime and to ensure targeted machine reliability is achieved between planned maintenance tasks within the operations.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Undertake diagnostic breakdowns followup work PMs to a high standard of all work completed in a safe and timely manner.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all work areas to provide a safe and healthy workplace for all employees and contractors.
  • Provide technical advice and support to fellow Maintenance Team members.
  • Ensures workmanship through meeting standards and tolerances and testing of equipment prior to handover.
  • Identify correct parts and equipment for all planned and unplanned jobs as necessary.
  • Continuously review scheduled jobs to identify opportunities for improvement.

What are we looking for

  • 25 years practical experience as a mechanical tradesperson in heavy mining application.
  • Excellent faultfinding skill and ability to carry out preventative and breakdown maintenance.
  • Computer literacy Microsoft Office Pronto or similar CMMS.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
  • Awareness of the Mine Safety and Health Act & Regulations Must have good comprehension of safe operating procedures safety rules policies emergency procedures and MSHA requirements.
  • Must pass a post offer physical and drug test as well as a background check.

The Details:

Working a 3 week on 3 week off rotating schedule of days and nights up to 12 hours a day or more at a remote campsite. Extreme conditions including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions dust mud varying levels of noise varying degrees of light and dark in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.

Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service games room exercise & weight room sauna and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone great WiFi & cable TV. Cell service is available through WiFi. The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks Delta Junction and Tok Alaska.
