Job Description

NMILC is a growing nonprofit dedicated to advancing immigrant rights and social justice. To maximize our impact we rely on a small highperforming fundraising teamand were seeking aSenior Grant Writerto play a pivotal role in our development efforts.

Position Summary

The Senior Grant Writer is an essential partner and collaborator providing critical support for NMILCs fundraising initiatives. This position is ideal for someone with significant grant writing and grant management experience (philanthropic and government funding) who thrives in a missiondriven environment values efficiency and brings meticulous attention to detail. The Senior Grant Writer will ensure proposals meet all guidelines track and manage opportunities and support compliance and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Grant Management

  • Prepare timelines assign responsibilities and coordinate all administrative and programmatic components of each grant submission ensuring compliance with funder requirements.
  • Collaborate with the administrative team to gather necessary documents (insurance certificates 990s audit reports etc. in advance.
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings related to grant preparation and deliverables; research concepts and prepare drafts for internal review.
  • Develop grant budgets in collaboration with the Executive Director and Finance Director.
  • Write compelling successful grant proposals and funding requests.
  • Research topics gather and organize source materials and consult with staff to clarify details.
  • Partner with program staff to ensure uptodate programmatic information for proposals and reports.
  • Maintain accurate records in the grants calendar and database tracking submissions funding needs sources and deadlines.
  • Prepare and submit grant reports to private and public agencies as assigned.
  • Use project management techniques to ensure milestones and deliverables are met.
  • Stay current with grant funding policies regulations and procedures and advise on their impact.
  • Maintain confidentiality of privileged information and contribute to a positive team environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Journalism Marketing Administration Public Relations Communication or a related field.
  • Commitment to and knowledge of NMILCs mission and immigrant rights.
  • At least 2 years of successful experience in grant writing proposal submission and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of the intersection of immigration economic development health and education.
  • Ability to connect grant funding to NMILCs strategic priorities and communicate effectively to diverse funders.
  • Excellent writing proofreading and editing skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience with project management including setting deadlines and coordinating team members.
  • Knowledge of federal state and community funding sources and mechanisms.
  • Ability to analyze information conduct research and maintain confidentiality.
  • Must pass a background investigation.

  • Has experience working in a social justice organization.

Salary and Benefits

  • Fulltime position; salary starts at $70200 commensurate with experience.
  • 100 of individual employee health premium paid for the base plan; 50 for dependents. Buyup plan available.
  • Access to a 401(k) plan with discretionary employer match up to 10 of base salary (subject to annual funding).
  • Optional Flexible Spending Account for pretax medical and dependent care costs.
  • Flexible work schedule and hybrid remote options.
  • Three weeks of vacation annually one earned sick leave hour per 30 hours worked.
