The Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km westsouthwest of Squamish British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site which would have a storage capacity of 250000 m3 and would produce approximately 2.1 million tons per year of LNG.
Woodfibre Management Ltd. is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver and a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited.
Position
The Process Control Engineer (Operations) is the Technical Authority of Process Control of the Woodfibre LNG Plant. Prior to the startup of the plant you will work closely with the Project lead to ensure that all systems are designed built and commissioned to ensure safe and reliable operations for the plants operating phase. During Operations you are the subject matter expert for all issues relating to Process Control. The successful candidate reports directly to the Senior Process Engineer and will play an essential part in supporting the project through the construction phase and into steadystate operations.

During EPC:
- Work in collaboration with Project staff and Contractor to provide quality surveillance and review support on control system design installation and testing.
- Review the process control documents to ensure that plant integrity remains and design objectives are met prior to and posthandover from EPC.
- Define the scope and select the right solution for implementation of Advanced Process Control (APC)
During the Commissioning and Startup Phase:
- Provide support to project engineers to ensure prudent procedures and steps are applied for safe and successful plant startups.
- Support the tuning of process control parameters and build control logic systems when needed.
- Support conducting performance tests and assessing gaps if any and plan for removal of constraints after a steady state is achieved.
- Proactively support the implementation of the Instrument Control and Safety System (ICSS).
- Proactively support the implementation of Advance Process Control
- Proactively support the implementation commissioning and testing of Operation Simulation Training (OTS).
- Develop fitforpurpose startup tools and performance monitoring templates.
During Operating Phase:
- Act as a Technical Authority and Subject Matter Expert for process control.
- Supporting Management of Change (MOC) processes and future projects.
- Proactively support process optimization control strategies operating procedures troubleshooting and safeguarding systems.
- Contribute to plant performance improvement studies and projects. Driving initiatives to enhance plant safety reliability efficiency production and environmental performance.
- Support the Process Control monitoring program including KPI tracking to identify inefficiencies and propose solutions for improved process performance. Predict future challenges and proactively address midtolongterm issues through monitoring of controller uptimes and plant performance.
- Develop implement finetune and maintain Advanced Process Control applications as a key component of plant optimization.
- Apply technical expertise to maintain operations within design specifications safeguard equipment integrity and ensure production remains within the operating envelope.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot processrelated issues investigate incidents and minimize shutdown/startup durations using process engineering expertise.
- Ensure safe production through effective safeguarding measures and proactive/predictive monitoring.
- Proactively support the Plant Alarm Management program in the diagnostics and ultimately elimination of nuisance alarms.
RequirementsRequired Experience:
- University degree in Control Engineering Chemical Engineering Electrical Engineering or Equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years as a System Control Engineer preferably in an LNG Production Facility.
- Professional Engineer designation or to be eligible in BC.
- Comprehensive understanding of P&IDs PFDs Control System schematics diagrams and narratives and Cost and Effects analysis.
- Led or participated in process control initiatives including base layer control enhancement programs and advanced process control projects.
- Capable of contributing to decisionmaking providing support and conducting or organizing handson technical evaluations.
Additional Requirements:
- Proven leadership skills to lead teams and mentor junior staff.
- Energetic in pursuit of continuous improvement processes.
- Experience working with large multidisciplinary teams and contractors in a multicultural environment is an asset.
- Communication/interpersonal skills interacting with frontline workers through to management and all hierarchical levels.
- A valid drivers license and passport.
- The position is based in Squamish BC (Project Site) with an initial stay period at the Vancouver Office followed by travel to the Module Fabrication Yards in China and a visit to the Houston project office as required.
