Job Description
Johnson Countys Justice Information Management Department is currently recruiting for a System Administrator II.First review of applications for this position will begin on May 8 2025. Duties include:
- Develops strategic initiatives and coordinates project directions and schedules to maximize benefits and minimize impacts on the customer organizations; provides leadership in planning and implementation of projects for computer operations and enterprise systems administration.
- Manages overall operations; monitors system performance and configuration; conducts maintenance and repair; ensures records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained and applies revisions to host system firmware and software.
- Plans and executes the selection installation configuration and testing of PC and server hardware software LAN and WAN networks and operating and system management systems; defines system and operational policies and procedures.
- Develops new system and application implementation plans custom scripts and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability; trains technical staff in the use of developed or acquired software and hardware.
- Troubleshoots and leads problemsolving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel.
Job Requirements
Associates degree in the following field(s) of study: Information Technology or relevant field and four 4 years work experience in systems design programming and systems software and support are required.
Bachelors degree in the following field(s) of study: Information Technology or related field is preferred.
Experiencecan substitute for education. Education can substitute for experience.
This position is currently eligible to work in a hybrid work environment with both onsite and remote work after initial training within the Kansas CityOverland ParkKansas City MOKS Combined Statistical Area which generally includes the Kansas counties of Johnson Wyandotte Leavenworth Miami and Linn and the Missouri counties of Jackson Clay Platte Cass and Ray is required.
Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency.
Physical Environmental and Special Working Conditions:
All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments/agencies in a declared emergency situation.
