An opportunity exists qualified Chefs to join our well established and highly reputable Catering Department at Newcastle Private Hospital on a casual basis. Your work as a chef will contribute to our patients experience with us; providing exceptional meals during their stay.

The successful applicants will be available for a variety of shifts across a 7 day week and have prior experience in healthcare or aged care food services or in a high volume hotel environment

About us

Come and join our expert team of surgeons specialist doctors dedicated nurses and allied health professionals at Newcastle Private are an 11 Theatre 189 bed acute private hospital facility colocated on the John Hunter Campus at Rankin Park.

Newcastle Private provides specialty care for individuals and their families/carers undergoing all aspects of treatment and care across our Sameday and inpatient stay facilities.

As a Chef your responsibilities will include:

Provide exceptional customer/patient service by preparing nutritious food in a timely manner ensuring the cleanliness of kitchens and food preparation disposing of unused food appropriately and ordering food supplies.

Demonstrate cost effectiveness by using produce effectively and managing waste.

Act as a valued member of an interdisciplinary team by promoting a positive team culture supervising and providing guidance to kitchen staff and by liaising with dieticians and other staff to create an experience that makes a difference.

Demonstrate professional practice by working according to Healthscopes policies and processes code of conduct and by participating in yearly performance appraisals and mandatory education. Maintain skills and standards of customer service and ensure patient confidentiality and privacy are maintained at all times.

Supports Healthscopes safety and quality improvement and achievement of accreditation by actively participating in team meetings quality and audit activities and ensuring compliance with and participation in the National Safety & Quality Healthcare Standards.

Essential Criteria:

Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery

Good working knowledge and understanding of HACCP regulations

Safe Food Handling Certificate

Available for shifts over a 7day roster including weekend work

Previous experience as a chef in a busy restaurant club hospital or hotel food service environment is preferred.

Strong culinary skills and a passion for delivering highquality meals.

Ability to thrive in a fastpaced setting while maintaining attention to detail.

A mindset focused on enhancing the dining experienceless hospital more hospitality.
