Job Summary
Pioneer Theatre Company PTC a professional theatre operating under a LORT B agreement with Actors Equity at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City seeks an experienced collaborative and problemsolving Production Manager. Utah is known for its high quality of life low crime distinct fourseason climate and diverse easily accessible landscapes ranging from mountains to pine forests to deserts. The Production Manager is a senior staff position that reports directly to the Artistic Director and Managing Director. The Production Manager oversees the production budget and is responsible for allocating resources monitoring and approving expenses finding creative ways to cut costs and timelines negotiating employment contracts with new technical staff and contractors and monitoring all production elements while maintaining high standards for all productions. The position facilitates the overall production process overseeing the daytoday operations of the Scenery Props Electrics Costumes Wigs/Hair Sound and Projection Departments. PTC generally produces a sevenshow season an Encores style concert and a new play reading series utilizing the Lees Mainstage 932seat proscenium theatre and a new 380seat thrust theatre. The Production Manager will work closely with the Artistic Director on season planning and scheduling and holds significant decisionmaking responsibilities for design approvals.

Responsibilities
Develops with department heads annual technical and production budgets. Monitors expenditures and works with department heads and creative teams to stay within budget. Oversees hiring for all production departments including following University hiring procedures and onboarding. Responsible for ensuring all technical staff persons have proper and complete safety training. Creates and manages budgets for equipment and coordinates and monitors maintenance and replacement of equipment. Responsible for approving and implementing major purchases ie equipment for all production departments. Coordinates production facilities improvements. Responsible for communicating with all creative and production staff budgets schedules and deadlines and disseminating any other relevant information. In consultation with the Artistic Director coordinates the scheduling of concept meetings design meetings and production meetings. Attends technical rehearsals and preview performances to coordinate daily goals scheduling and priorities and ensure a safe effective and efficient work environment. Manages and facilitates rentals specifically from our stock of scenic drops.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelors degree in a related area of assignment or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of assigned departments area of specialization in order to analyze plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Masters degree in a related area may be preferred. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
