This Notice is being provided as a result of the filing of an application for permanent alien labor certification for the following job opportunity:
Position Title: Assistant Professor Specializing in Algebra
Position Requirements:The candidate must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics. A.B.D. (all but dissertation) in Mathematics is acceptable. The candidate must also demonstrate potential to become an effective teacher of mathematics as well as an active research in algebra.
Position Duties: The job duties of the position are as follows: (i) teach three 3 courses each semester two of which will support the mission of the Department to teach mathematics courses for nonmathematics majors and possible upper division courses for mathematics majors; (ii) work with students from diverse backgrounds both in the classroom and on mathematical research and capstone projects; (iii) participate in life and development of the Department; and (iv) maintain an active research agenda in algebra and seek opportunities to collaborate with researchers in the department university and/or the wider community.

Scheduled Work Hours: This is a fulltime academic position with typical work hours ranging from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Candidates must submit: a cover letter that addresses all minimum and any applicable preferred qualifications met; a CV; a research statement; a statement of teaching philosophy; a list of all courses taught that explains the nature of each course as well as the level of responsibility for the course content assignments tests grading and presentation of the course material. In particular the applicant must state teaching assistant or instructor of record for each course listed. If the applicant has no teaching experience they must submit in lieu of this list a page with the statement I have no teaching experience; an unofficial graduate school transcript which must confirm the doctorate degree if it has been earned at time of application; applicants whose doctoral degree has not been conferred at the time of application or whose doctorate is not reflected on their transcript must submit a statement from their degreegranting department indicating the anticipated date for conferral of the degree; and contact information for the writers for three letters of recommendation whose letters will be solicited at the application deadline. Teaching abilities must be addressed in at least one letter and research abilities must be addressed in at least one letter.
