Heres how a(n)General Accountantfor our Edmonton Industrial Managementoffice contributes to our team:
Responsibilities
- Collects and obtains approval and processes through PCL business systems all accounts payable in a timely and accurate manner to meet all contract payment terms as per legislation contract terms and PCL policy and procedures.
- Assists with yearend procedures as assigned.
- Prepares bank deposits and enters cash receipts.
- Processes timeentry transactions and reconciliations.
- Prepares processes and reviews equipmentrelated costs.
- Prepares processes and reports overhead items.
- Prepares processes and reviews intercompany billings.
- Follows up on vendor statements and outstanding invoices.
- Ensures that internal controls and company policy is adhered to.
- Supports finance and commercial risk management with special assignments as required.
- Effectively communicates with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develops and maintains strong customerfocused relationships with all stakeholders.
- Values and models the solution provider and profitability culture.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Postsecondary degree or diploma in a related designation not a requirement.
- 13years of accounting experience in construction or a related industry preferred.
- Introductory knowledge of construction industry; understands general construction terms and processes.
- Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience using JD Edward ERP considered an asset.
- Knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles including maintenance of ledgers and cashflows.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks with conflicting deadlines.
- Ability to act with the required discretion when handling confidential information.
- Strong organizational skills and high level of detail orientation with the ability to accurately prepare and enter financial information to meet deadlines and requirements.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
