Insulator - Maintenance Freeport TX

Turner Industries Group is seeking Journeyman Insulators for Maintenance in the Freeport TX area.

• No per diem available ideal for local candidates
• Work schedule subject to change
• NCCER Certification a plus but not required must pass craft test
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
• Must be able to pass safety council courses in English
• Knowledge of industrial piping and equipment insulation required

General Job Description:

Covers boilers pipes tanks and refrigeration units with insulating materials such as fiberglass cork plastic and magnesia to reduce loss or absorption of heat prevent moisture condensation and to deaden sound.

Functional Requirements:

Wires prefabricated fiberglass covering around steam and hot water piping; trowels mastic or brushes cement on insulation to obtain a smooth finish and covers piping with cloth; fits thermoblock and magnesiablock insulation around insulating boilers evaporators and turbines; wires insulation on machinery and staples wire netting over insulation; trowels cement on wire netting to protect insulating material; wires cork on salt water refrigeration and airconditioning piping and cements cloth over insulating material to obtain a smooth finish; cuts sheets of insulation into sections; fits and cements sections around fittings; covers gas piping of refrigeration or airconditioning systems with molded plastic; fabricates detachable insulation for valves or similar fittings; wires detachable covers on valves or fittings; installs fiber glass or spun glass on ventilation systems to deaden sound and prevent vibration.

Qualification Standards:

• Three 3 years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
• Written preemployment qualification test
• Postoffer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation

Tools/Equipment:

Employee may be required to provide the following: tool box tube cutters hacksaw frame channel locks vise grips center punch screw driver combination square tape adjustable wrench allen wrench set combination wrenches nut driver folding rule torpedo level pipe wrenches tubing benders rain suit

Physical Involvement:

Employee may be required to do the following: climbing ladders scaffolds structures etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders scaffolds structures etc.; reaching in all directions handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level waist level and/or overhead; carrying objects tools equipment etc.; standing; sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; crawling; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction

Mental Involvement:

May be required to do the following: follow set procedures and standards; follow oral/or written directions; knowledge of federal state and company standards and regulations; ability to read and write; ability to recognize and report safety hazards etc.; interpret written plans and blueprints; applying basic mathematical skills; planning work and selecting proper tools; comparing and understanding differences in the size shape and form of lines figures and objects; picturing and evaluating solid objects from drawing or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked; ability to communicate with others effectively; ability to work in a team and get along with others; ability to learn new tasks; remember processes maintain focus and complete tasks; ability to remain calm under pressure; manage time and expectations across multiple projects; ensure that work is done in a consistent manner and in compliance with directions

Work Environment Factors:

• Location: industrial maintenance and construction sites
• Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site: uneven ground level; obstructed pathways; work performed at low and/or high elevations; work performed in confined areas
• Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site: predominantly outdoor climate; may be exposed to extreme hot or cold weather excessive humidity rain etc.; various noise levels caused by tools machinery equipment etc.; potential exposure to chemical substances
