Schwartz Farms Inc. was founded in 1978 and at the time was predominantly involved in crop farming. Although Schwartz Farms is still involved in farming todays primary operations are within the pork industry. Schwartz Farms Inc. employs over 550 fulltime individuals and owns sows in the upper Midwest predominantly in Minnesota Kansas Iowa South Dakota and Nebraska. YOUR ROLE AS A ANIMAL CARE SPECIALIST (PARTTIME)
Your daytoday responsibilities will be both fulfilling and dynamic. This position will provide support to the breeding or farrowing teams by
- Providing care for animals ensuring they have access to food water and a comfortable environment
- Assist with movement of animals
- Treat and vaccinate animals
- Assist in power washing
- Promote a safe work environment
- Maintain PQA certification status (provided on the job)
- Follow all biosecurity policies and procedures
- f lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. with reasonable accommodation
- Demonstrate Schwartz Farms values of integrity respect excellence and adaptability
- Advocate and engage in SFIs animal welfare policy including promoting animal wellbeing remedying circumstances which impede animal care and properly reporting instances of mistreatment or abuse
- Additional duties may be assigned as they arise
Work with your manager on establishing a schedule and weekend rotation. Your adaptability will shine as you respond to the needs of the animals and the farm whether its assisting with routine care or participating in special projects.
