Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Senior Developer Advocate to join the Open Source Strategy & Marketing team. Our creative experienced organization is responsible for helping to drive the development and adoption of Valkey. In this role you will combine your technical skills passion and creativity to encourage developers to use improve and evangelize Valkey. In the process youll nurture and grow the Valkey community and build influence with its key users and contributors.

You come from a developer background ideally with database experience. Youre comfortable on stage or screen telling the stories of Valkeys people features and future. You understand how to connect with technology leaders across communities companies and industries. You have a strong intuitive sense for what will make Valkey successful and the drive to put plans into action. Youre ready to be an active participant in the community participating in development and empowering others to participate along with you.

Key job responsibilities
* Contribute regularly in the Valkey community through direct engagement with developers content and code
* Triage and review contributions to Valkey
* Build and execute content strategies that encourage awareness and adoption of Valkey
* Promote Valkey and its community by creating valuable content for its users current and future. This includes technical demos videos blog posts podcasts and livestreams.
* Authentically engage the broader developer community to understand their needs and advocate for Valkey
* Provide valuable community feedback to AWS service teams to help improve our products and services and advocate for community needs inside the service teams.
* Build relationships and represent the needs of community members users and partners
* Speak at industry and community events about Valkey
* Participate in online developer communities such as Stack Overflow GitHub Reddit
* Be active and visible in social media to stay positively connected to developers
* Connect and grow community through travel (including internationally when needed) with the flexibility to choose where and when you need to be
* Set your own goals and work autonomously to accomplish them



A day in the life
As a community builder youll help attract contributors and users to Valkey and keep them engaged and inspired and work to improve the developer experience. You will represent the Valkey community inside AWS and use data to improve the project.

As an ambassador you will build longterm relationships with members of the Valkey community. Youll work with them to identify areas for growth amplify what they create and recognize the people and stories that deserve more attention.

As a contributor you will improve Valkey by creating resources to ease adoption participating in the development process and enhancing the technical documentation.

As a team member you will lend your creativity humor and memes to our discussions and get togethers. We believe in the power of fun and play to build connections.

About the team
AWS Developer Experience (DevEx) is a technical marketing team focused on winning the hearts and minds of Builders at scale.

The Open Source Strategy and Marketing (OSSM pronounced awesome) team inside DevEx includes experienced technologists content creators and community builders that have worked in and for open source at some of the industrys top companies and foundations. We use our deep experience to help AWS effectively and authentically engage with open source communities partners and stakeholders.

Our mission is to help AWS deliver on two tightly linked objectives: 1 to significantly increase the scope and value of our open source involvement and 2 to help customers and communities learn about our involvement and understand why it matters.

8 years working in a handson technical role in software development (backend or fullstack development) architecture database administration or operations (SRE DevOps).
Experience contributing to an open source project.
Experience public speaking content creation and presentation skills (in person and online) and
Experience working with technical communities.

Handson knowledge and experience with Redis or Valkey.
Understanding of NoSQL data modelling and distributed systems.
Demonstrable following in social and technical channels such as Twitter YouTube GitHub Twitch or other local platforms.
Experience managing and/or maintaining medium to large scale projects on GitHub.
Success in nurturing engaging with and growing large open source projects.
Track record of contributing to documentation and/or writing technical howto content.
Experience packaging software for RPM or Debianbased Linux Distributions.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $124100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $277700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
