Introduction


Delawares Attorney General the States chief law enforcement officer has a broad responsibility to combat crime uphold civil rights safeguard families fight fraud and protect consumers in the First State.

In meeting this mission Attorney General Kathy Jennings is supported by teams of talented lawyers and staff in the Criminal Civil Family Fraud and Consumer Protection and Civil Rights and Public Trust Divisions. Each of the more than 500 staff who work in the Office of the Attorney General are dedicated to serving all Delawareans with integrity and passion.

Deputy Attorneys General with critical support from criminal special investigators victim service specialists paraprofessionals and administrative staff prosecute criminal cases enforce consumer laws provide counsel to state agencies ensure the publics access to open government protect the abused and much more.

Summary Statement

The Delaware Department of Justice is looking for a dedicated and highly motivated individual to serve as a Deputy Attorney General in the Forfeiture Unit of the Criminal Division. Although the Forfeiture Unit oversees cases statewide this position is based in Kent County at 102 West Water Street Dover.

This position has been established in response to Delaware House Bill 280 an act to amend Titles 11 and 16 of the Delaware Code regarding Civil Asset Forfeiture. The selected candidate will play a critical role in implementing and supporting the provisions of this legislation prosecuting drug and violent crimes and civil forfeiture cases in Kent County.

Pay Grade A14 DAG II Salary Range $87822/min $92106/max

Pay Grade A16 DAG III Salary Range $96997/min $99129/max

Pay Grade A18 DAG IV Salary Range $106626/min $108737/max

Pay Grade A20 DAG V Salary Range $118238/min $122920/max


* The salary of $83252 for the Deputy Attorney General I position applies to candidates who are admitted to the Delaware Bar


Job Requirements

Strengths include the ability to evaluate cases determine appropriate resolutions communicate in concise oral and written communications and anticipate legal issues. The applicant must be wellversed in search and seizure law and have an understanding of drug investigations/prosecutions and forfeiture law and procedure. The applicant must have or be able to develop a good working relationship with other Deputy Attorneys General investigators support staff court personnel and police agencies. Prior experience in criminal prosecution or civil litigation is highly desirable. Membership in the Delaware Bar is required.
