The Opportunity:
The UCF Student Success and WellBeing Recreation and Wellness Center is currently accepting applications for a Campus Recreation Coordinator (Coordinator of Outdoor Adventure). This role assists with the management and operation of a variety of Outdoor Adventure Program components to include Adventure Trips Climbing Tower Outdoor Adventure Center Challenge Course and Lake Claire Recreation Area. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation (Assistant Director of Outdoor Adventure) and supervises approximately 4050 student employees including five student leads.
This is an Auxiliaryfunded position. Employment is subject to the availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the supervision for the Adventure Trips Program and Outdoor Adventure Center to include successful planning guiding and leadership of student development opportunities and experiential learning through the outdoor environment.
Support the management of the Challenge Course Climbing Tower and Lake Claire facility components of the Outdoor Adventure Program.
Develop and market programs for on and off campus groups for challenge course.
Monitor and oversee various budgetary lines and assist in the budget development related to the management of the Outdoor Adventure program.
Develop implement and evaluate policies relating to all areas of responsibility.
Revise create and enhance operation procedures for all areas of Outdoor Adventure program.
Responsible to hire train schedule and evaluate Outdoor Adventure student staff.
Assist in the development and implement comprehensive leadership program for Outdoor Adventure student staff.
Coordinate routine and nonroutine maintenance work for all areas of responsibility to include specific maintenance and annual certification for challenge course and climbing tower.
Responsible for the development and implementation of risk management plans for all areas of responsibility.
Counsel students and process disciplinary actions in response to participation in programs when necessary.
Work closely with Student Government (SG) to meet goals objectives and expectations of one of their primary funded agencies.
Serve as an instructor for the American Red Cross/AED and First Aid Certification Courses.
Coordinate the completion of statistical analysis and assessment results for areas of responsibility.
Supervise coordination of program marketing efforts.
Maintain inventory and recommend purchase of equipment for Outdoor Adventure.
May serve on University and/or National Committees.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree and 2 years of relevant experience or a Masters degree and 0 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prefer experience developing quality student programs and implementing risk management policies for safe facilities and programs.
Demonstrated ability to provide instruction and possess technical proficiency in a variety of outdoor applications including sea kayaking canoeing backpacking surfing standup paddle boarding mountain biking and rock climbing.
Possess current Wilderness First Responder Certification
