F.H. Collins Secondary School is currently seeking a passionate French Immersion educator to join our dynamic learning community. F.H.C is a dualtrack English/French Immersion school serving approximately 780 students in grades 8 through 12. We provide students with a diverse range of academic athletic performance outdoor/experiential trades and arts programs. We are proud of our strong academic programming cultural diversity and commitment to meeting the needs of all learners.
Located in the capital city of Whitehorse Yukon F.H.C sits alongside the Yukon River on the traditional territory of the Kwanlin Dn First Nation and Taan Kwchn Council. Our school continuously works to honour First Nations ways of knowing doing and being and we value our deep connections with families and the broader community.

Please clearly demonstrate in your cover letter and resume how you meet the following qualifications and experience:
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education with university courses in Sciences
- Fully fluent in English & French
- Recent secondary school experience teaching in French
- Recent experience teaching maths / sciences at the secondary level
- Recent experience with differentiated instruction and principles of inclusion
- Recent experience using competencybased instruction and evaluation
Desired knowledge skills and suitability
The ideal candidate will possess these qualifications skills and knowledge and also demonstrate suitability for the role and organizational culture:
- Demonstrated experience using experiential learning in sciences
- Strong knowledge of technology use in a school setting
- Demonstrated ability to teach secondary courses/ classes in both English and French
- Recent experience incorporating a wide range of formative and summative assessment tools; and teaching a standardsbased / competency based curriculum
- Strong classroom management planning and organizational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work positively and collaboratively with students staff and the school community
- Experience working with and effectively supporting students with learning difficulties
- Experience incorporating indigenous ways of knowing and doing into science
- A knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of the First Nations people of Yukon and a culturally diverse student population
Conditions of Employment
This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following condition(s) of employment:
- Successful applicants will be required to undergo a security clearance including vulnerable sector check.
- To be a Teacher in Yukon you must be certified in another Canadian province/ territory first.
- Yukon First Nations 101 to be completed within one year.
