Salary Range Commencing from $63554.40 (Grade 7 Step 1 plus 11.5 successful candidate will have access to step increases for the grade based on competency assessment and tenure within the position.

Strathfield Council (Council) is a medium sized Council located in Sydneys Inner West. The area of the Council comprises approximately 14 square kilometres and has an estimated population of 46000 residents which is growing at 2.53 annually. Based on NSW Government projections the population will increase to over 80000 by 2036.

About the Role

Strathfield Council has a great opportunity for a Horticulturist to join our Open Space & Sportsfields team on a permanent fulltime basis.

The purpose of this role is to maintain and enhance areas around Strathfield Councils LGA and conduct horticulturist responsibilities including but not limited to pruning planting mulching spraying mowing and litter collection.

This role also assists in other areas of Park & Recreation maintenance programs as required. For more information about the duties and responsibilities for the role please refer to the Position Description attached below.

About You

• Qualifications in Horticulture (minimum TAFE Certificate III in Horticulture Parks and Gardens) or equivalent knowledge skills and experience.
• A current Class C Driver Licence.
• General Safety (White Card) Induction.
• Chemcert training (AQF 3
• Demonstrated experience in a horticultural role and in the maintenance of all associated plant equipment
• Demonstrated high level of organisational skills to manage multiple tasks exercise initiative and meet deadlines
• Demonstrated experience in the supervision and leadership of small teams
• Demonstrated level of verbal numeracy and written communication skills
• Demonstrated experience in identifying plants
