We are currently seeking a General Maintenance & Fleet Technician to work at our Burlington Red Cross Blood Center in Burlington VT.
Schedule Shift is MonFri 8am to 5pm (flexible 40 hours). On call is required. Valid Drivers License is required.
Offer includes a $1500 signon bonus. Up to $8000 annually in oncall pay.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
Under limited supervision the General Maintenance & Fleet Tech III will perform repairs and maintenance in the Biomedical facility. The General Maintenance & Fleet Technician typically performs work in one or more of the maintenance trades: carpentry plumbing painting machine and equipment repair and electrical. Conduct routine periodic or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities machinery and equipment. Use hand and power tools to test inspect troubleshoot and repair machines and equipment. Provide support development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.
The General Maintenance & Fleet Tech III will provide customer service for Regional Fleet Management and facilities maintenance. Assist with the management of fleet operation for the Region. Manage the Regional Fleet Programs for motor vehicle registrations operational and organizational maintenance vehicle emergency safety equipment issue use and inventory. Accountable for ARC gasoline and minor maintenance cards enforcement of authorized use of ARC vehicle vehicle sales accident recovery and claims and formulation and compliance of fleet budgets. Provide support development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.
Facility is 32000 sq. feet. Also will manage a fleet of 13 vehicles.
WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD:
Maintain and repair organizations facilities and properties involving routine tasks and responsibilities. Patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings. Repair or replace concrete floors steps and sidewalks. Paint structures and equipment as needed. Install and correct minor electrical plumbing carpentry and structural problems. Document installation and repairs as required by regulatory agencies. Install operate and service boilers chillers motors fans pumps and related mechanical equipment.
May move and store furniture and equipment.
Estimate time and material costs of various projects. Requisition new supplies and equipment.
May plant and tend flowerbeds. Prune shrubs and trees to enhance growth and appearance water lawns shrubs and flowerbeds and spray fertilizer and insecticides. May rake and remove fallen leaves sweep external walkways and staircases and may remove snow using power removal equipment or shovel. Apply snowmelting chemical when necessary on company roads walkways and outside staircases.
May drive vehicle to other locations.
Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education: High School or equivalent required.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Related experience includes skill and knowledge of painting HVAC carpentry plumbing masonry and electrical work is required.
Skills & Abilities: Previous truck and/or bus driving experience is desirable. Must have basic writing and communication skills.Required to have basic computer skills.Will have oncall duties. Ability to work on a team.
Travel: May drive vehicle to other locations. A current valid drivers license is required.
Physical Requirements: Regularly required to use hands to finger handle or feel reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Regularly lift and/or move objects 1050 lbs. frequently; lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 lbs. with assistance or the use of a powered industrial truck. Frequently required to push carts weighing up to 250 pounds on flat flooring or ramps. Frequently required to stand walk stoop kneel crouch or crawl. Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. Able to move/lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted. Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools and work with a variety of chemicals and solvents. Position may require climbing of ladders for toplevel selection.
