Sr Manager Global Trade Compliance APAC

Primary Function of Position

• Lead Global Trade Compliance function in the APAC region. This position will be responsible for development oversight and continuous improvement of procedures and internal controls for export and import. The role will ensure Intuitive Surgical adheres to all applicable laws and regulations related to export and import activities in APAC. 
   

Essential Job Duties

• Develop and implement comprehensive Trade Compliance programs in the APAC region.
• Manage customs and partner government agency authority relationships including response to government inquiries and audits. 
• Oversee import / export applications registrations and Customs rulings. 
• Provide subject matter expertise in current import and export regulations and requirements including classification valuation country of origin guidance. 
• Evaluate risks to guide decisions propose solutions and drive improvements throughout the region.
• Conduct regular internal reviews and audits to measure compliance and assess possible risks and violations.  Recommend and oversee corrective actions within business operations programs and practices. 
• Collaborate with local crossfunctional teams to align trade compliance initiatives with business objectives.
• Provide Trade compliance oversight and guidance to Intuitive teams responsible for operational of import / export activities. 
• Oversee the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and internal controls for APAC trade compliance.
• Evaluate and implement customs simplification applications to enhance the efficiency and costeffectiveness of import and export operations.
• Deliver training and educational programs to APAC personnel on trade compliance requirements and best practices.

Qualifications :

Required Skills and Experience

• 10 years of international trade experience building and implementing Trade Compliance programs with a significant portion of that experience in a managerial or senior role within the APAC region. 
• Extensive knowledge of global trade compliance regulations including import/export laws customs regulations and trade agreements specific to the APAC region.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing trade compliance programs.
• Experience interfacing directly with customs and partner government agency authorities including responding to government inquiries and audits.
• Proven track record of implementing scalable compliance solutions (procedures systems and processes).
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with ability to anticipate problems and take proactive actions to make Intuitives APAC Trade Compliance program stronger and more efficient.
• Strong track record of working and communicating effectively with crossfunctional teams.
• Excellent analytical and problemsolving abilities to assess compliance risks and identify improvement opportunities.
• Experience in conducting trade compliance audits and assessments.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fastpaced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in developing and delivering training programs related to trade compliance.
• Familiarity with customs simplification practices and strategies to optimize import/export operations.
• Strong proficiency in English both written and verbal.

Required Education and Training

• Minimum of a bachelors degree in international trade business administration law or a related field.
• Several years of experience in trade compliance with a significant portion of that experience in a managerial or senior role within the APAC region.

Preferred Skills and Experience (As applicable Specific skills knowledge and experience that are not required to perform the job but are desirable to have)

• Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g. Certified Customs Specialist Certified Export Specialist) is preferred.
• Fluency in one or more local languages commonly used within the APAC region.
• SAP knowledge and experience implementing global trade automation solutions.
• Knowledge of trade regulations in the medical device industry.
