Responsibilities and Duties Include:
Implements coordinates and monitors schoolwide counseling services and activities; establishes an environment for an effective counseling program.
Plans and develops guidance programs based on developmental needs of students needs assessments and school and district priorities.
Establishes short and longrange plans based on student needs as well as school district and state priorities.
Provides personal/social growth counseling (individual and group) concerning academic success understanding of self and others communication skills decisionmaking relationship skills conflict resolution goal setting and effective coping skills necessary to refuse participation in substance abuse and physical violence.
Recognizes overt indicators of student distress or abuse and takes appropriate intervention referral or reporting action; provides crisis intervention services.
Establishes and follows procedures for appropriate interventions in accordance with school district and state laws rules and policies.
Administers tests interprets scores and communicates results in an effective manner; uses relevant assessment data to make recommendations to students parents teachers and other professionals.
Implements programs for career awareness and comprehensive educational/career plans which target high school completion postsecondary opportunities scholarships and financial aid information.
Establishes priorities and an implementation schedule for counseling and student service programs.
Reviews evaluates and selects a variety of materials to support a wellbalanced counseling program; uses feedback form students parents and staff to evaluate program objectives.
Communicates goals and services of the counseling programs to school administration staff students and parents.
Reviews student records and indicators (i.e. portfolio assessment professional team interaction and analysis reports documented parent interaction student discipline records) to evaluate student needs and plan program.
Writes or participates in the formation of student IEP or 504 Plans or other learning plans based on individual student needs.
Maintains professional relationships with outside services and makes appropriate referrals for psychological social work health and community services.
Prepares all required reports and maintains all appropriate records.
Participates in meetings training sessions and other activities for improvement of professional knowledge and skills; participates in schoolwide events committees and supervisory responsibilities to assure student safety.
Complies with all published College Rules procedures guidelines and laws/regulations governing public employees including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction FERPA and confidentiality.
Strictly honors the privacy security and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state federal and college regulations policies and procedures.
Provides service excellence through courteous informed accessible and professional engagement.
Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required: A masters degree from an accredited educational institution and a Florida certification in School Counseling.
Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted.
Preferred:Working knowledge and understanding of child development guidance and counseling principles programs and services as well as tests and measurement theory.
