Excel Summer Camps & Programs Lifeguard/Swim Instructor
Who You Are
The Excel Program at Episcopal Academy seeks parttime and fulltime seasonal camp lifeguards/swim instructors. Under the direction of the Aquatics Director Swim Instructors are expected to guide children throughout the camp experience assist them with daily activities and programs and ensure their safety and wellbeing.
What You Will Do
Successful candidates for this position will:
- Implement pool supervision as a lifeguard
- Demonstrate the ability to complete saves during weekly safety drills and if needed during shifts on stand at the pool.
- Teach group swim lessons to children of all ages and skill levels.
- Implement lesson plans and activities to meet the individual needs of each swimmer.
- Utilize positive reinforcement techniques to motivate and encourage students to reach their goals.
- Have a flexible work schedule.
- Be responsible for group supervision of students with attention to behavior and group management health safety security and personal and skill development.
- Inform the Aquatics Director of any concerns regarding the health and safety of the students or other staff members.
- Implement camp program activities; includes outdoor and indoor activities.
- Use effective management and supervision skills to lead the group assigned daily.
- Work effectively with fellow summer staff members and collaborate on daily responsibilities.
- Complete skills tracking paperwork.
- Serve as a positive role model to children on campus.
- Interact professionally with students their families peers the leadership team and the larger campus/school community.
- Complete all background checks required by the Department of Education.
About You
The ideal candidate for the Excel Summer Camps & Programs Lifeguard/Swim Instructor at The Episcopal Academy will possess the following:
- Red Cross Lifeguard Certification required prior to start of camp
- Previous experience working with children (preferred).
- Push/pull lift and carry a minimum of thirtyfive 35 pounds.

Position Date
June 2 2025 August 1 2025. Typical hours for pool staff are 8:30 am to 3:00 pm day with an option to work an extended day.
