Wasaho Cree Nation Elementary School invites applicants for a Grade 3/4 Teacher. The classroom is usually under 20 students (even when combined).
- Must be a qualified teacher;
- Must follow the prescribed curriculum of Ministry of Education for Ontario;
- Must be committed to completing the teaching contracted year;
- Must be willing to include family and community members in classroom activities;
- Must be willing to implement First Nations culture into curriculum;
- Must have a working knowledge of Canadian First Nations cultures and history;
- Must have respect and be sensitive to First Nations Traditional Values and Culture;
- Must have high standards and expectations for academic achievement especially in the areas of literacy and numeracy;
- Must have excellent classroom management skills and ability in utilizing positive classroom management strategies;
- Must have experience with behaviorally difficult students;
- Must accommodate and include special needs children by adjusting teaching styles and curriculum as required for inclusion.

Qualifications
- Candidates must provide a resume with at least three references two of which should be related to recent teaching positions;
- Candidates should be a member in good standing of the Ontario College of Teachers or equivalent;
- Must have an Ontario Teaching Certificate.
- Candidates must provide a criminal record check at the time of hire;
- Candidates must submit a Cover Letter describing:
- Why they wish to teach indigenous children; and
- Their experience and/or their suitability teaching in a remote indigenous community.
