POSITION:ECE Assist/Bus Driver

SALARY:$20.0024.34 per hour

REPORTS TO: ECESite Supervisor

LOCATION:Head Start Nespelem WA

Basic Functions:NonExempt. Assists one or more early childhood teachers in the education care supervision and instruction of preschool aged children in classrooms common areas playgrounds and during transportation at a center dedicated to school readiness goals in children and in the community. Maintains and prepares classroom and related environments and materials.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Training:

  • Requires completion of a GED/High School diploma within 6 months of hire.
  • This position requires completion of CDA or equivalent in early childhood education within two 2 years of hire with emphasis on preschool age position requires experience working with preschool aged children in a playoriented learning or equivalent environment.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Requires basic knowledge of the principles and practices of age appropriate early child development applicable for an educational setting.
  • Requires a basic knowledge of instruction methods for preschoolaged children.
  • Requires knowledge of basic clerical and record keeping processes.
  • Requires basic knowledge of and skill at using personal computers games and other equipment to support play learning record information and send communications.
  • Requires sufficient human relation skills to work productively and cooperatively with teachers students and parents in informal settings to exercise patience when conveying information and demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students.
  • May require knowledge of native language culture and traditions.
  • Requires the ability to assist teaching staff with implementation of playoriented instructional activities.
  • Requires the ability to learn to assess the needs of individual students.
  • Requires the ability to conduct informal reading and project circles with individual and small groups of children and assist others with demonstrations of assigned subject matter.
  • Requires the ability to relate positively to students in a learning environment in a way that builds confidence and recognizes socioeconomic and cultural differences among children.
  • Requires the ability to balance childrens physical needs emotional support and deal with common behavior problems.

Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to preemployment drug testing. In addition this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and postaccident drug testing.

TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.

If required of this position you must possess and maintain avalid Washington State drivers license and be eligible for the Tribes Vehicle Insurance. In addition this position may be subject to preemployment background clearances. If applicable these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
