Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Walsall to assist with the appointment of an Attendance Officer on a 3month contract likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 15.87 20.87 per hour

Summary:

We are looking for a dedicated Attendance Officer to join the School Attendance Support Service within the Prevention and Reintegration Team. This vital role works directly with schools families and partners to support vulnerable children across the Walsall Borough ensuring they access full educational entitlements and achieve positive outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Work within the School Attendance Support Service to support and challenge schools in fulfilling statutory education responsibilities.
  • Engage with vulnerable children and families to improve school attendance and promote positive educational experiences.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory guidance around Elective Home Education Exclusions Children Missing Education (CME) and SEND.
  • Support alternative education provision tailored to the needs of disengaged pupils.
  • Maintain accurate records and manage a caseload according to service policies.
  • Conduct home visits and attend multiagency meetings including Early Help Assessment and Child in Need Meetings.
  • Collaborate with professionals across education social care and health sectors.

Essentials:

  • Strong understanding of statutory guidance and legislation related to school attendance exclusions CME EBSA and SEND.
  • Experience working with children young people and families in educational or care settings.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload prioritise tasks and maintain professional reports and records.
  • Skilled in multiagency collaboration and applying the EBSA model effectively.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle with business insurance.
  • Willingness to work on a hybrid basis with travel across schools homes and offices.

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
