Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Pembrokeshire to assist with the appointment of an Ecologist on a 2month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 25.42 34.02 per Hour

Hours Per Week: 22.00

Summary:

We are seeking a Specialist Advisor Ecology to provide expert advice and support on ecological and biodiversity matters across the planning and development functions of the Council. This role will ensure legislative compliance and promote best practices in relation to ecology within land use planning and biodiversity initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise departments on statutory responsibilities for nature conservation and ensure compliance with legislation.
  • Support Development Plans Conservation and Development Management with ecological assessments surveys and data analysis.
  • Manage and enhance biodiversity on Councilowned sites including Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
  • Screen and scope planning applications for Environmental Impact Assessment and Habitats Regulations Appraisal.
  • Contribute to Local Biodiversity Action and Nature Recovery Plans.
  • Liaise with internal departments statutory bodies (e.g. Natural Resources Wales) consultants and the public regarding ecological matters.

Qualification:

  • Degree in Ecology or a related field with significant relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. Habitats Regulations Planning laws)

Essentials:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in IT including databases spreadsheets and GIS.
  • Experience in ecological surveys and data analysis.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Full driving licence.

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
